Why did the US look at the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban and go, "Well now its our turn"?

It seems like the US saw the Taliban victory and was like "You know what, fuck it" because ever since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, it just seems like the US is just going into chaos mode. Gun violence, police brutality, just overall fucking situation just went into chaos mode ever since.
