One of my students sent me a racist meme.

I am a highschool teacher. One of my students sent me a very racist meme. I do not take racist jokes in the classroom. I posted it on my social media and tagged my principal. The principal then called the police and let them know that she didn’t condone hate speech and that she is going to demand jail time for the student. Do I need a lawyer?
