I am travelling to England in June to help someone with some work. I won’t be staying in a touristy city but somewhere close to Liverpool. I will have 6 hours a day (4 weeks) to do whatever I want to.

Please help me with the following things:
1. English people speak extremely fast. I sometimes have trouble figuring out the accent or speech. I speak English fluently (but with an accent) but still have trouble figuring out the accent. Should I tell them to slow down? I have heard that the British are very polite. The person I am helping is also a senior (and nice)
2. I am an Indian from a South Indian city. Not sure if Indians live in that city I am visiting. How common are Indians in the UK? I am worried people would mistake me for a refugee from the Middle East or Pakistan or Islamophobic comments (happened to me in another European country). How can I politely convey that I am Indian (from South Asia) in case people mistake my ethnicity?
3. I have read that the UK is a strict country with laws. I sometimes have trouble figuring out the can and can’t of things (I can’t read minds). How would I know if I am doing something wrong unintentionally?
4. Should I get a portable Wi-Fi dongle (you gave 5GB for free everyday) or a sim card? I won’t have anyone to help me with the sim (I don’t think the person I am helping will set it up for me).
5. I hear food is expensive and not good in the UK. Can someone please suggest a weekly meal plan?
6. How to get around the city? Is a monthly bus pass better or buying tickets everyday for a month?
7. The city might have a mall. Where can I get stuff (toiletries) cheaper?
8. I (M23) heard people in the UK don’t smile at strangers. Is this true all over the UK? Should I smile at people I meet especially those helping me setup stuff (sim card, bus pass, etc) or smile and greet neighbors when I see them?
9. I heard the UK is extremely strict with tipping culture (that people in services don’t expect tips). I am not sure about tipping in the UK. I tip 10 to 25% depending on services in my country.
10. And lastly, how to stay warm in the cold English weather (especially outside for a couple of hours) and protect my teeth from cavity (sugary food)?
