An open message to the moderators of r/communism_101

To the moderators of r/communism_101 and like-minded subreddits,<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>There has been a deep permeation into the "communist" community on Reddit of a recent propaganda campaign in which numerous comments and accounts have popped up promoting the idea of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan in the name of "communism". <br><br>I'm sure most of you are aware of the recent American invasion of Afghanistan and their actions there. It is in your best political interests to begin asking yourselves very honest questions about the invasion you are currently being paid to promote. **Why are you, as Communists, calling for an imperialistic invasion?**<br><br>The CCP is not a communist government, it has not been for decades. It is a capitalist regime that has been using propaganda to begin to legitimize a war effort against Taiwan, likely to expand its territory for the purposes of resource extraction and material/industrial exploitation. **Taiwan is not capitalist.** Taiwan is a democratic socialist country with strong liberal democratic institutions, but with a strong social safety net and various socialized institutions like its public healthcare system. They have a strong labor movement and a vibrant set of liberal and progressive institutions.<br><br>Why are you so quick to call for the invasion of a democratic socialist country in the name of a war of aggression to bolster a capitalist regime? **Why are you so quick to call for the murder of millions of innocent Taiwanese people by supporting a Chinese invasion?**<br><br>To the moderators of r/communism_101 and friends, **I implore you to consider your actions, to consider the lives that you are putting into harm's way. You are not acting in the interests of socialism or communism. You are acting in the interests of the capitalist oligarchs who control the CPC. You are engaging in propaganda at the behest of the CCP. You are supporting the idea of an imperialist war that would destabilize East Asia and lead to the suffering and murder of innocent Taiwanese people. There are better alternatives.**<br><br>The people of Taiwan **do not deserve** to be treated like this. The people of Taiwan **do not deserve** to be subject to the whims of your twisted justifications for mass murder. **They deserve your respect. They deserve your empathy. They deserve your recognition of their humanity.**<br><br>An invasion of Taiwan would lead to the genocide of its people, the erasure of its culture, and the destabilization of an entire region. It would lead to hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Taiwanese deaths as well as widespread rape, torture, and human rights abuses. It would lead to the mass displacement of Taiwanese people as refugees, fleeing from the CPC's atrocities, and the widespread destruction of Taiwanese infrastructure.<br><br>And for what? So the CPC can claim to be "communist" even though **they are not?** <br><br>**Why are you, as Communists, calling for an imperialistic invasion and war of aggression?**<br><br>This is a message from the volunteers, mods, and community at r/EnoughCommunistSpam.
