CMV: Because of Biden’s win, the world no longer has to worry about the threat of a second Trump presidency

In my opinion, Biden winning the election is perhaps the biggest piece of good news for the rest of the world since the end of the cold war. I’m not talking about his policy, I’m talking about Trump’s threat to democracy. I’m not talking about the US either, I’m talking about the world. <br><br>Trump was the most powerful man in the world (or at least the leader of the world’s most powerful country), and how he utilised his power can be seen in his actions. And his desire for a second term was his most valued possession. The way he talked throughout his campaign tested the waters of what the Americans would accept from him. He has now openly admitted that he planned to cheat and break democratic norms to win and continue to be president. I don’t think he ever had any intention of leaving the White House. <br><br>His mistrust of democracy has been apparent for years. “Fake News” and “Fake polls” were a staple of his election campaign. His attempt to discredit the mail in voting system alongside his relentless efforts to defund and hamper the post office service to impede the process his most brazen actions yet. He refused to say whether he would accept the results and his plan A was to win the airport. His Plan B was to use the supreme court to throw out as many votes as possible, and he’s openly admitted that’s his plan. <br><br>The supreme court, which is supposed to be an independent entity, now contains 3 judges that he has personally picked. The supreme court decides the outcome of the election. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that he could easily strong arm the judges to do what he wants. And the Americans would have no choice but to accept it. And then he would be able to do whatever he wants in his second term. And if he gets re-elected in 2028 he’d have a free pass to be president for life. <br><br>The Americans were tasked to stop this from happening. After years of Trump being able to do whatever he wants, the Americans have finally removed that threat. Biden isn’t a king, he’ll leave in 8 years and there will be no risk of him being able to strong arm his way into a third term. <br><br>This is the first time in two years that the world can finally relax in the knowledge that Trump’s grip on power is gone. The world can finally exhale. Biden winning is amazing because the threat of Trump has been neutralised.
