Am I the A**hole for taking the bed I sleep in, off the will of my deceased father?

My mother recently passed away and I have inherited a lot of her property. This includes the bed I slept in every night of my life.

Unfortunately, the bed is now damaged and my brother and sister don’t want to pay for the repairs so I am taking it to my house.

I will pay for the repairs. But I am wondering if I am an A**hole for taking the bed.

The bed is a bed that has a lot of memories and it would be devastating to let it go. It has been a constant in my life for over a decade. But I know that I am not the only person who has a connection to it and I can’t afford to pay for repairs for my family.

My dad made me a promise when my mother passed away. He said “The bed you sleep in is yours”. This was not something he said to my siblings either. This was something he said to me. He did not want his children to fight over his property. He said it was his wish to divide it fairly but also to allow each child to inherit something that meant a lot to them. I have been holding onto this promise tightly and it’s giving me a lot of confidence.

So, I will be taking the bed home with me. It will be my reward for being a loyal child.
