I'm going to throw out a crazy idea and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'm 27 and my 25 year old brother recently got engaged to a 23 year old woman. My parents aren't pleased with his decision. They wanted him to marry a woman of our nationality. He grew up in a very Americanized household with very little connection to our old country. He doesn't care about our nationality and so his bride is American.

My parents have taken out loans equal to my brother's dowry in order to pay for his wedding and for the money he is supposed to give away during the wedding. This is a huge burden on them and a huge risk. This tradition is very important to them and so they are going to do everything they can to uphold it.

I feel like I should give them my savings to help pay for my brother's wedding, but I want to keep that money for my own future wedding. I want to get married and have kids, and so I need a lot of money for that. I don't want to take out loans which is why I've been saving.

What do you think I should do? Should I be okay with taking out a loan for my future in order to help pay for my brother's wedding, or should I keep my savings?
