LPT: If you don't want your word processor to crash (or if you have a broken backspace key) press `Ctrl + backspace` in windows to delete a word at a time. Press `Ctrl + Shift + Backspace` to delete a sentence at a time.

For mac users, `Cmd + backspace` will delete word by word, but I couldn't find out how to delete sentence by sentence. I hope this helps.
