I got locked out naked and gave my 2-week notice

15min story, dw. I work in a locked lab at work with some really high-powered tech (Specialized microscope, coolers, centrifuges...etc), and locked doors are a safety and security protocol. We do some cool stuff, but also some of the things we do are really very scary. Our lab is locked and coded on all doors and the code is regularly changed and requires 2 people in the lab to allow anything in or out. Also, because we work with extremely sensitive equipment we have 2 access badge scanners, one if you need access to a microscope room, and the other to get into the main lab room. There are cameras in every room, and in the main hallway outside. <br><br>There are 2 single-person bathroom/showers in the hall where the microscopes are kept. I really like the equipment we use but it is not fun. I work all day in a hot lab wearing a lab coat, nitrile gloves, goggles, and a mask. I was scheduled for a 6hr shift on the scope today. Before I got on the scope I went to the bathroom to change. I took off my lab coat, and hung it on a hook, my ID tag is on my lab coat so I only had my gloves and goggles with me. I walked out the bathroom and scanned into the microscope room closest to the bathroom and saw one of my supervisors using the scope. He offered me the other scope he was not currently using, since it was already prepped, and I said yes. <br><br>The scope rooms are set up as follows: you walk in the door, and turn left or right into the individual rooms. You can see the entire hallway without even leaving a microscope room. We started working around 10am, and it was great we were able to get a ton done. I was so relieved we were able to get so much done and left the room right around 3:45pm to go change. I walked out the microscope room, and turned left towards the bathroom and started walking. The supervisor saw me walking out and said he would need me to finish prepping his data on the computer and I said OK. <br><br>I walked over to where he and I were sitting at the computer in the microscope room, and sat down and started working on the data. It wasn't long, 15-20min tops. While I was reading the files and getting them ready I had a great idea for a project and took out a pen and paper to make some notes. I wrote and while I was writing, he got up and I was reading the file I had pulled up on the computer. I heard the door close and I thought he left, but he came back in and was standing right next to me while I was still reading the file. We chatted for a few about the data we collected and the project I was thinking about. <br><br>I got up to go change and walked out the microscope room, turned LEFT towards the bathroom (which is RIGHT), and walked to the door at the end of the hall. I walked up to the door, reached for the handle and...it didn't budge. Then I remember that I have to scan in. I swipe my ID and nothing happens. It is then I realize I don't have my ID, I left it in the bathroom and it has all my access badges. I am locked out, and have no way of getting back in. <br><br>I walked to the door at the end of the hall and looked into the camera and waved trying to get someones attention, but no one was paying attention. I looked around and I had nothing. No phone, no ID, no lab coat, or keys. I was seriously locked out and had no way of getting back in. We have a phone on the microscope rooms to contact people in the lab, but there is no phone near the bathrooms so I had to get someone's attention. <br><br>I stood at the end of the hall waving my hands and jumping around for what felt like an eternity before someone noticed me. One of my coworkers walked into view of the camera, and waved back but did not come towards me. I made a walking motion with my fingers and she nodded, but still did not move. Seriously, what the fuck am I supposed to do? A *very* lucky thing happened; the supervisor who I was talking to walked into view, and said "is she locked out?" and my coworker nodded. The next thing I hear is him laughing (I see him try to cover his mouth) followed by him asking if I needed help getting my stuff, and I nodded. <br><br>I walked down the hall to the microscope room he was in, and he walked in behind me. We walked to the computer and I pointed at my notes I had jotted down. I said something like "I was working on the project idea I was telling you about, and I think it could be really cool and I wanted to leave it for you to read". He laughed and I asked him why he was laughing at my project idea and he said it was because he saw me standing *naked* at the end of the hall waving at the camera like a complete idiot and jumping around. I laughed and he said "you have no idea how dumb that looked" and I said "yeah I have some" and laughed.<br><br>He walked with me to the bathroom, handed me my stuff and left without saying anything else. He didn't even call me an idiot. I got dressed, put my stuff away and sat on the floor to write this. I finish up in 2 weeks (I am moving cities) and I am bringing treats to celebrating my naked streak.
