\-------------

By the time you are 40, if you've lived a good life, you've done most things you ever wanted to do. If you're lucky, you're in the middle of it or on your last leg, but you've done most of those things.

After that, it's all about being there for the people you love. Getting to see your children grow into adults. Getting to see your grandchildren grow up.

You've only done that 1/4 of your life so far. You still have 3/4 left to get that experience.

Now, those of you in your 20's and 30's, you've done only 1/2 of your life, maybe 1/3. You don't really have family you need to be there for, unless you're one of the lucky ones to have children young, but you're really just living for your family and yourself.

The older you get, the more appreciation you have for the life you've lived, the less appreciation you have for the life you will live. When you are young, you are excited for the life you will live and the experiences it will bring, but as you age, you look back and realize you won't have many more new experiences in your life.
