Gods In Space

My story is about a multi-planet spanning empire ruled by a powerful being known only as “God” that exists outside of space-time in a realm known as “The Astral Plane.”

The Astral Plane is a realm where time and space are irrelevant and consciousness is the sole component. The Astral Plane contains many other beings of God’s caliber who all serve as rulers for their own universe’s or realities.

God in my story rules over a specific universe that contains our reality and many other alternate realities. The universe in turn is comprised of many galaxies and solar systems with some stars containing multiple realities and some being just one planet.

Life in my story has two primary states: 1. The flesh (mortal life) and 2. The spirit (Afterlife). Every mortal life lived in my universe must eventually end and the spirit of which is sent to the afterlife. This applies to all life in my universe from animals to aliens and even the AI.

The afterlife is a realm that exists in tandem with the Astral Plane that allows spirits to continue their consciousness in a form that is unique to each spirit. Some spirits will reincarnate into a new flesh body or stay in the spirit realm and live out the rest of their existence there.

Reincarnation is a random process where a spirit is given a completely new set of experiences in a new flesh body each time they are reincarnated. For example, a being that lived 1000 years ago as a peasant farmer could reincarnate today as the son or daughter of a billionaire in a distant star system.

There is a key difference between spirits that reincarnate and spirits that stay in the spirit realm in that spirits that stay in the spirit realm are much more active in the affairs of the universe than those that reincarnate.

Spirits that stay in the afterlife are often times seen as guides or mentors to those in the flesh who are reincarnated. They often take the role of gods to those in the flesh and are actively involved in guiding the affairs of the flesh.

Spirits that reincarnate are known as ‘passengers’ because they ride the ‘train of life’ and go wherever the train takes them. Passengers are the ones who are intended to live the mortal lives that the spirits in the afterlife guide.

The Spirits in the afterlife are tasked by God to guide and mentor ‘passengers’ through the process of reincarnation in hopes that through their guidance passengers will end up being reborn into the afterlife.

The key to being reborn into the afterlife is a mysterious process known as achieving ‘enlightenment’ in the flesh. When a passenger achieves enlightenment, their spirit is able to break the cycle of death and rebirth and enter the spirit realm at the end of their flesh life.

There is a key difference between spirits that live in the afterlife and passengers that are in the flesh. Passengers that are in the flesh do not have free will as their lives are already predestined to end up at a specific place in life. Spirits in the afterlife have complete control over their destinies and have free will.

Predestination is a concept that exists in my story where the outcome is already known and set in motion by a guiding force. The guiding force behind predestination is God. God already knows how every life in the universe is going to end up and has predestined each life to end up at a certain place in life.

The process of reincarnation is controlled by God and is a random process that is influenced by the spirits in the afterlife. Passengers are reincarnated into a random flesh body each time they are reincarnated and the spirits in the afterlife try to influence where they are reincarnated into.

There is a great war taking place in my universe known as the “War For Souls” where multiple sides are vying for control of the predestined lives of passengers. The war for souls is between passengers who are trying to take control of their own destiny and the spirits in the afterlife who see the flesh lives as beneath them.

The passengers know they are reincarnated but do not know their past lives due to a memory block known as the ‘veil of forgetfulness’. They do know however that they do not have free will and are forced to live out a predestined life that is controlled by the spirits in the afterlife.

The passengers have formed a rebellion to fight against the spirits and take control of their own destinies. The rebellion is known as the “Enlightenment” and its followers are known as the “enlightened.”

The enlightened are passengers who have achieved enlightenment while still in the flesh and have broken the cycle of reincarnation. They have full knowledge of their past lives and have chosen to stay in the flesh rather than enter the afterlife.

The key to enlightenment is a mysterious process that allows a passenger to break the cycle of death and rebirth and enter the afterlife. The process is shrouded in mystery and only a select few passengers have achieved it.

Enlightenment is achieved by passengers who are able to see through the veil of forgetfulness and recall their past lives. They are then able to use this knowledge to break free from the cycle of reincarnation and enter the afterlife.

The enlightened passengers are the leaders of the rebellion against the spirits in the afterlife. They are able to use their knowledge of past lives to influence the affairs of the flesh and guide other passengers towards enlightenment.

The war for souls is a struggle between those who believe in the spiritual nature of the universe and those who believe in the material nature of the universe. The passengers represent the material nature of the universe and seek to take control of their own destinies and live their lives free from the influence of the spirits.

The spirits in the afterlife represent the spiritual nature of the universe and believe that the flesh is beneath them and are inherently superior. They see the flesh as nothing more than a playground to amuse themselves and have no interest in truly guiding passengers towards enlightenment.

The key to victory in the war for souls is achieving enlightenment. Whichever side can achieve the most enlightenment amongst their followers will be granted immense power and influence over the fate of the universe.

The passengers have a secret ally in the war for souls. There is a group of rogue spirits in the afterlife who seek to help the passengers achieve enlightenment. They believe that the flesh lives are just as valuable as the spirit lives and that passengers should be able to achieve enlightenment and break free from the cycle of reincarnation.

These rogue spirits are known as the “Watchers” and they play a key role in guiding passengers towards enlightenment. They often take on the role of spiritual guides and mentors to passengers and help them to achieve enlightenment through various means.

The Watchers are seen as traitors by the other spirits in the afterlife and are hunted by them. They are forced to live in secret and use clandestine means to guide passengers towards enlightenment.

The war for souls is a conflict that has been waged for millions of years and will continue until one side achieves ultimate victory. The fate of the universe hangs in the balance and the outcome is far from certain.

So what do you think?
