My friend and I were at a gas station talking to a random guy, and the topic of rap came up. I was joking around saying that it's all about being a thug, and he told us that 'We [Black men] are a joke, and we're making fools of ourselves'. He then said that rap is the reason why people see us as thugs. Why'd Black music go from Jimi Hendrix and Michael Jackson to this? 'Why is this what we're represented as? I'm not a thug, I'm *not* going to jail, I'm not going to have kids, I'm going to make something of myself.'

He said he grew up in Compton and was around gang violence his entire life, and that he saw how much of a joke the 'Black pride' gangsters were.

Pretty fucking based, right?
