CMV: The modern "white guilt" from people who move to other countries to escape diversity is the moral equivalent to a 1950's suburban housewife's "white guilt" because of the lynching of black people in the southern United States.

I have nothing against white people. Racism is in our hearts. I'm not white, but I have nothing against people who move to a predominantly white country because they want to escape the diversity of their current country. But it is a form of racism to deny this. If you lived in an area in the 1950's that had a lot of racial terror against blacks, that would be unacceptable. It is unacceptable, the idea of "white guilt" in regards to people who are racist against minorities. If you are Asian or another race of color, and you experience racism in predominantly white areas, that is wrong. But it is not the "white guilt" that is wrong or unjust, because the definition of white guilt is the internalized guilt that white people in general should feel as a collective group over the past wrongdoings of white people. It is the fact that white people all share a collective identity and this history of genocide, slavery, and other forms of horrors that justifies this "white guilt." \- Generally everyone feels guilty for the race/races they are a part of and the history of their race. We now use this term "white guilt" to talk about a modern day phenomenon. Modern white guilt, is the internalized guilt that white people have even though they were not alive during slavery. The concept of "white guilt" also applies to other races, for example, Chinese people living in Beijing 100 years from now should be ashamed of their nationality, since China is committing genocide against Uyghurs. If white people feel like they have to move away from predominantly white countries because there's too many people of color, then they are feeling this modern form of "white guilt" because they are feeling they need to escape this perceived problem of diversity. This in turn, makes white people feel bad about their history of modern day horrors, since they are even afraid to live among people of color. In other words, they feel like they're not a part of the problem, even though they are. This is the unhealthy thing about modern day "white guilt". But if white people were actually feeling guilt about being white and the history of white people, they wouldn't be so eager to move away and escape into all white communities.

EDIT for clarity: White guilt is always a bad thing, because people can't feel bad about being their race. It's racist to feel bad about being white, just like it's racist to feel bad about being black. However, there is a collective group history that a race has, that affects their collective identity. Today it is unacceptable to say "I feel guilty for being white because I am uncomfortable around people of color". It was also unacceptable to say "I feel guilty for being white because I am uncomfortable around black people" 60 years ago. In 60 years, if China is still around and still committing the atrocities they are now, it will be unacceptable for Chinese people to say "I feel guilty for being Chinese because I am uncomfortable living in a country that has Chinese people". 60 years ago, it wasn't as big of a problem for Chinese people to say that, because it wasn't the exact same problem as it is now because China wasn't as powerful and wasn't as globally connected to other countries. It's still a problem, but it's a different problem than it is now. 60 years ago, it was unacceptable for German people to say "I feel guilty for being German because I am uncomfortable living in a country that has Jewish people". It was the same collective group identity that should have been shameful, but it was a different problem. The "white guilt" of today is just as unacceptable as the "white guilt" of 60 years ago.
