CMV: Trump’s comments about grabbing women were disgusting and makes him unqualified for the White House

I’ve been browsing this sub for a few days now in an effort to understand the other side of the political spectrum. While I can’t say I’ve agreed with many of the views here, I think it’s crucial to see things from different perspectives and recognize things we might have missed on our side. That being said, I have to express my confusion about the exaltation of Donald Trump as the Republican nominee. I’ve seen tons of posts attempting to justify Trump’s comments about women in a leaked hot mic audio in which he said, “I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.” The fact that these comments were made in 2005 is irrelevant; as a leader and human being, there is no excuse for making these comments, let alone making them days after his first child was born. These comments are not only disgusting, but they also make him unqualified to be the President of the United States.<br><br>The first point I’d like to make is that his comments are disgusting, and many people would agree. Trump’s comments about grabbing women without their consent is disgusting, sexist, and predatory. They perpetuate a culture of sexual assault, and as the nominee from a party that is known for being pro-women, Trump’s comments are particularly damaging. Now, I know many of you don’t think Trump meant what he said, but you must understand that his comments perpetuate rape culture and are damaging. Since making these comments, Trump has been accused of a myriad of sexual assaults, which he has all denied. Whether or not these claims are true, it’s clear that his comments have bred a culture in which men feel they can sexually assault women without fear of reprimand.<br><br>For that reason, Trump is not qualified to be the President of the United States. Besides the fact that his comments make him morally unqualified, he has also never held any political position in his life, making him politically unqualified as well. Even Trump’s supporters must understand that as the leader of America, you have to be politically informed, unbiased, and morally sane. Unfortunately, Trump does not possess any of these qualities. While some of them argue that Trump is not a politician, so he doesn’t have to act like one, that doesn’t justify his traits. Whether you like it or not, when you run for office, you have to act in a way that is respectful to all people. As a leader, you have to act like one, and you have to represent the views of your party. On both counts, Trump fails miserably and is not qualified to be President.<br><br>So, please, change my view.
