Hi. So, this happened in my early twenties, when I was a medical student. I was at my cousin’s house, it was summer and the family was together for an annual BBQ. The kitchen was busy with people preparing food and I had to go to the bathroom. I went to the first one, my cousin was in there but he said I could use the one down the hallway. As I walked down, I noticed that the door to the bathroom was half open. I didn’t even think about it and walked in. As I checked it, I found a man standing in the shower. Then we both froze. <br><br>Something about this man was off. He was tall, skinny and had no pubic hair. He was standing in the shower, butt facing me. He had no response, he just said, “oh, sorry, sorry.” I apologised and walked out. I used the other bathroom. <br><br>Fast forward a few weeks. I had to come home late from the hospital. I was studying for a big exam that was soon and I had to go to the library. So it was 10pm when I got home. I parked the car in the parking lot next to the building and walked to the elevator. As I walked, a person who was at the end of the hallway walked towards me. I walked at a normal pace, paying attention to my phone. As I got closer, he got closer to me, until eventually, he stood right in front of me. And it was him. The guy from the bathroom. <br><br>I wasn’t even shocked. I was scared to death but he said “you [my name]. I got into the elevator and he walked in as well. I called my mom, my sister and my brother. “I am being mugged. Please help me.” The guy took my phone from me and tuned it off. Then he held me from the back. I don’t know what happened then as I fainted. <br><br>My family couldn’t find me. I didn’t answer my phone for hours. The next morning, a nurse found me in front of the hospital. I was dirty and cold. They called my family and they picked me up. The first thing they noticed was the needle mark on my elbow. It was blue and swollen. Then I remembered what happened. We reported this to the police and went to the hospital to check what was going on. I was confused. They did a drug test. I am a medical person and I never did any drugs. It was negative. Then we did an antibody test. It was positive for HIV. So they assumed that he had injected me with HIV positive blood. I spent the next months depressed. I started therapy. I was suicidal. Luckily, my family helped me a lot. It’s been years now. I am a resident in anaesthesia. I am married. I have two kids. I am fine. I work in the hospital this guy goes to when he’s sick. He has aids. I see him sometimes. I am not sure if he remembers me or not. I have never talked about this to anyone ever. So this is it. Guy who injected me with what I thought was HIV, let’s not meet.
