I was hanging out with a few friends at work, and one of them told me he got fired. He said it was because his brother did something wrong, and he got fired.

For context, I used to work at his family's business. They hired me out of college, and I've been there for a few years, and it's a pretty good job. But the last year or so, they've been trying to cut costs and make me work harder for less pay. I decided to leave and move to another state, and I got another job pretty easily.

I made a joke about how stupid it is to get fired because your brother did something wrong, and my friend said it wasn't funny. I asked him to explain what happened, and he said it was a lie, and he got fired because he was stealing company property.

I asked him if he really thought it was okay to steal from his family, and he said it was a mistake, and he didn't mean to. I told him it was a stupid thing to do, and it was his fault, and I shouldn't have to feel bad for him.

My friend got mad and said I was making fun of him for getting fired, and I said it wasn't my fault he stole from his family. He said I should be supportive, and I said I wouldn't be if I knew he was stealing from himself.

My friend said it was unfair to make fun of him for getting fired, and I said it wasn't my fault he stole from his family, and I shouldn't be the one to make fun of him.

He said I was being cruel, and I said it wasn't my fault he stole from his family, and I shouldn't be the one to make fun of him. I said I would still be his friend, but I shouldn't have to feel bad for him.

I don't know if I'm the asshole, but I think I should be.
