If you can live off the grid with solar panels, a well, and hydroelectric power, why do you need a job?

I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of living off the grid, and it always seemed like it would be a dream to be completely free from needing to work. I can’t help but wonder why I want to do it so bad, though.
