Hey everyone, I've been in New York on a work contract and have been flying back home to San Francisco this morning. It was a redeye flight but I got to the airport early to spend a few hours working, then sleep, before my early morning flight.

However, I discovered that the airport had a lounge for $30 and I could upgrade to first class for $70, so a total of $100.

This may seem ridiculous to some people who fly out a lot, but I never do and I was curious, so I did it. So I paid $30 for lounge access and then $70 to upgrade to first class.

This may be the stupidest $100 I've ever spent, but it was worth it for me.

So here's what I got, and I'm gonna divide this into the lounge and the flight.

### Lounge

* Dedicated lounge with private seating and outlets.
* A few showers.
* Unlimited snacks, full bar, and unlimited coffee.
* Ability to do remote checkout and get your boarding pass printed in the lounge.

It's possible that I was there during a dead time, but I had zero issues getting a shower or whatever I needed. It was very peaceful.

I didn't think the snacks were that great (maybe I was spoiled by what San Francisco airport had) but having a full bar was very nice. I think the best part was the coffee and just being in peace.

### First Class

* Wider chair that's more like an office chair in terms of how comfortable it was, wider arm rests, tons of legroom.
* Leg rests.
* Ability to charge your phone, laptop, and headphones.
* Free meal and snack.
* Ability to get hand luggage checked so you don't have to take it on the plane with you.
* Priority boarding.
* Priority deplaning.

I was a little disappointed by the food but it was edible and not like what the rest of the passengers got.

The flight was completely empty and partially unstaffed, but the flight attendants were very nice and attentive in first class.

Overall I'd say it was worth it for me. The extra comfort was nice and it made it worth not having to deal with what the other passengers had to go through. The lounge access just was an added bonus.

If you ever want to experience this, it may be worth it.
