What happened to the mods here?

Used to be a great community to talk about anime, but our mods have been awfully strict and overzealous with the rules lately. And then I look at the mods list and see multiple names I've never seen or heard of before, because they actually bother to participate in the community.

Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree with the rules. But the way our mods are enforcing them is just absurd. It feels like every other post I see is locked down and removed because it didn't meet every single criteria for a post. I'm sorry but that's not how a community is supposed to be run. The job of a mod is not to just enforce the rules to the letter, but also to have common sense and not kill a post just because it technically broke a rule.

This is an anime subreddit. Our content is supposed to be about anime. How many of you have been on this sub in the past year and seen nothing but political posts one after another? Stay on topic.

Then there's the repetitive spam posts. Every single day it's the same thing:

"recommend me an anime."

"what anime should I watch next?"

"what are your top ten anime."

"I'm new to anime, what anime should I watch first?"

There are literally hundreds of these posts on this sub already, and you can be sure the answers are going to be the same. Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, Naruto, Dragonball, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist, the list goes on. It's so repetitive and annoying, and yet the mods are so lenient on this stuff because it doesn't technically break any rules.

Worst of all, we've got tons of posts that are just going to devolve into an argument. "why is anime so popular?" "what is the deal with all the anime fans lately?" "why do you like anime so much, it's so weird." These are not discussions, these are just the same old arguments over and over again with no substance or worth to them.

I get that mods don't have control over who gets to be a mod, but there's been some seriously shitty decisions lately about who should be running this community.
