You may have wealth, but money isn't what it was 30 years ago. It's not what it was 20 years ago, 10 years ago, 5 years ago, hell, it's not what it was last year. And it won't be what it is today in 5-10 years, but maybe you'll have more wealth then.

But tell me; what makes you think your money will get you through the rest of your life (how ever long you have to live at this point) when so many people are asking "What in the hell happened to my money?"

Is there a safe bet? What is it? What makes you think you'll make it through this life with what you have saved? How much money do you think you'll need, or, more appropriately, how many assets do you need?

Just a question. It's not rhetorical.

EDIT: This is an Economics Subreddit, so I think this topic fits well.

EDIT 2: If you downvote without giving a reason, that is a personal attack; be respectful.

EDIT 3: To those with a finance background and knowledge of economics: you can answer the question in the context of finance (I don't want to see the "this is a poor Subreddit for this question" comments). I'm interested in your thoughts and experiences.

EDIT 4: Sorry mods, I had no idea this was against the rules.
