Is Kratom the next huge anti-drug campaign like marijuana?

Ever since I learned about kratom I've been taking it pretty regularly. I really enjoyed how I could still go to work and do everything I needed to while still feeling very happy and relaxed. (I don't live in an area where weed is legal so that's not an option).

I can really see how big pharmaceutical companies may start a huge anti kratom campaign to keep people from taking it and try to make it illegal or at least scheduled. I really hope that they don't, I understand that it can be addictive, but it can help so many people.

I heard that the DEA was going to schedule it back in 2016, but there was a huge backlash against it, and the DEA decided not to schedule it. I guess I just wanted to get people's thoughts on the topic.

Edit: I don't think that kratom will be made illegal at the federal level, but I can really see how big pharmaceuticals can effect people's opinions on it. I feel like I'm seeing way more commercials against kratom than I did a year ago, and more people seem to know about it and associate it as a street drug along with fentanyl, heroin, and spice.
