I (26f) recently returned to my hometown after being away for college and work. My mom loves baking and recently she’s been experimenting making homemade cupcakes for many occasions like birthdays, graduations etc.

A couple weeks ago, one of my childhood friends (let’s call her Sophie) had her birthday and mom offered to make her a cupcake. When I delivered the cupcake to Sophie’s house, her sister (6f) was not there but our next door neighbors came over to pick up their daughter (7f) to watch her for the night. As soon as the neighbor left, Sophie’s sister (6f) begged Sophie to ask me (that’s where I came in) for a cupcake. Sophie’s sister went to ask and I gave the cupcake to Sophie to give to the teacher instead like I originally planned. Sophie complained that her sister was upset and was going to ask our mom in the future.

Sophie later told her mom (my mom’s friend) what happened, and her mom went to beat up Sophie’s sister’s mom (I didn’t do anything because I wasn’t in the picture till the neighbor knocked on my door to complain). Mom then told me that the little girl (6f) asked her and Sophie’s mom asked her on my behalf and mom said she would give her a cupcake next time I see the little girl. I refused saying I didn’t ask for that and if I wanted to give her a cupcake I would have given her one already. Mom got mad at me for being stubborn and said I was being unreasonable because it’s just a cupcake, I go back home rarely and it would be a one time thing that the girl would appreciate.

Sophie’s mom then side with mom and told me I was an AH for being petty over a cupcake and being so mean to a little girl who didn’t do anything wrong. Sophie’s mom also said I was an AH for recording the conversation without her knowledge or consent.

AITA?
