When bouldering or top-rope climbing indoors, the negative comments are WAY worse than the positive ones.

Hey guys! I'm a beginner and I'm trying to guess my bouldering grade. I was talking about this with one of the staff who has been climbing for years. His guess was 4b, and then he offered to spot me on some 4b routes I couldn't finish to give me the confidence to do them.
This bouldering gym has mirrors, and when I was doing one of the routes, I heard a couple of climbers laugh and say "is this guy for real?".
I felt really bad, because, you know, people are supposed to be friendly etc. Now it's always in my head, and I'm much more self conscious.
If someone actually does a route instead of laughing at the newbie, it's a 1 in 100. But if you get laughed at, that's a 1 in 3.
I won't stop going. But this is something that is really apparent to me.

Edit: wow, didn't expect this many upvotes! As many people have pointed out, this is not an unpopular opinion, so I guess I'm gonna have to post this on a more popular sub :).
