I'm anti-human supremacy and anti-ecofascist

(This is not a response to a specific post, but I hope it'll introduce a discussion of very important issues)

I've been loving this sub since I joined, but I felt like I had to state these values to be able to participate properly. As I read the rules multiple times, I see that I **must** state these values, explicitly.

Note that these values do not mean that I am against **all** humans, or **all** of the functions of the human brain, or **all** actions of humans (e.g. I think some human level of intelligence is required, and that humans are required to be involved in the process).

Rather, I am against any form of **supremacy** (i.e. putting one group above all others) and **fascism** (i.e. abuse of power). This includes supremacy and fascism from humans, **and** supremacy and fascism from other animals. In fact, the latter is currently much more of an issue for the planet and our future.

**Anti-human supremacy**

Humans (you, me, Elon Musk, Bezos, and the rest of the human population) are part of the animal kingdom, and we are part of the ecosystem, not above it. I am against any form of human supremacy, and I agree that humans have been taking, **and continue to take**, way too much from many other species and from our planet. This is not ethically sound. There are other animals whose needs and rights are just as important as ours, and the Earth's rights and needs are more important than ours.

I believe that humans have gone too far and need to back down. **We have been, and continue to be, too invasive on other species and their habitats**. The inherent value of other species and of the Earth is being ignored, and we are aggressively, violently taking more and more from other species and from the Earth. This is **not** sustainable. We are seeing the consequences of human actions now, with the climate crisis, with many species going extinct because of human activities, and with the planet being hit by more and more natural disasters.

**Anti-ecofascism**

I want to specify that I am *not* against all forms of **wildlife** (which I define as animals which are not humans or domesticated animals), or **wilderness** (which I define as areas that are not developed by humans). In fact, I believe that we should give more space and more freedom to other animals and to the wilderness. Humans have taken too much space, too many resources, and too much freedom from other animals and from the Earth.

However, I am against putting **wildlife** and **wilderness** above humans or domesticated animals. **I am against all forms of supremacy, not just human supremacy**. Any form of supremacy disregards the inherent value of other animals, of humans, and of domesticated animals. I don't think that's fair, or sustainable.

I am against ecologism, or eco-fascism, because these ideologies put humans and domesticated animals below wildlife and wilderness, in the same way that human supremacy puts humans above wildlife and wilderness. When we put one group above all others, we become blind to the inherent value of the groups that we're putting below us.

I am also against anti-humanism, because this philosophy sees humans and human values as inherently problematic. There are many human values that are problematic, but there are also many human values that are important. For example, humans need to be free (which currently isn't the case), they need to have autonomy and self-determination (which currently isn't the case), and they need to be able to thrive. These are values that animals and the Earth also need, and these values are also important for **all** animals, including humans.

**Humans and animals have the same needs and rights**

Humans, animals, and the Earth have the same needs and rights, because we are all interconnected and interdependent. The planet is, in effect, a living body that is made up of many different living beings. These needs and rights are essential for all of our survival, and they are not optional.

**All** animals need to be free, they need to have autonomy and self-determination, and they need to be able to thrive. This is true for all animals, including humans and domesticated animals.

**All** animals need to be able to participate in the process of decision-making, and their voices need to be heard. This is true for all animals, including humans and domesticated animals.

**All** animals need to be able to express themselves, they need to be able to communicate, and they need to be able to interact with other animals and with the ecosystem. This is true for all animals, including humans and domesticated animals.

**All** animals have the same rights. We need to think of humans, animals, and the Earth as a single living being, a single living body that is made up of many different living beings. This is a more accurate way of thinking of the world, because we are all connected and because we are all interdependent. We need to think of humans, animals, and the Earth as a living body that breathes, eats, drinks, sleeps, and reproduces.

We need to think of humans, animals, and the Earth as a living body that has the same needs and rights as all other living beings. I am against any form of supremacy, because it is problematic for all animals, including humans and domesticated animals.

I believe that humans, animals, and the Earth are a single living body that is made up of many different living beings. Feel free to ask me any questions, or to state your own anti-human supremacy and anti-ecofascism stance.

P.S. I believe that humans are animals, but I have written "animals" and "humans" separately to help make a distinction between these words, and to highlight the way humans are currently treating other animals. I did the same with "wildlife" / "wild animals" vs "domesticated animals". When humans talk about "animals", they usually mean only wildlife/wild animals, which is why I have written "wildlife" / "wild animals" and "domesticated animals" separately.

I also agree that, in a perfect world, there would be no domestication. However, we're not in a perfect world, and we're not going to be in a perfect world anytime soon. **The issue isn't that such a world isn't perfect, the issue is that the current planet is, in fact, far from perfect**. In the real world, there are way too many animals that are suffering, too many species that are going extinct, and too many ecosystems that are being destroyed. We need to start thinking of the planet as a living body, and we need to take responsibility for our actions. We need to start by taking small steps towards sustainability, and by giving more space and more freedom to other animals and to the wilderness
