This is an experience I havnt thought about in a long time.

When I was an infant, my parents bought a gas station that they owned and operated for over 30 years. As a 2 year old, I would play at the gas station while my parents worked there, helping customers ect. There was a game I used to play which was walking through the front door, and leaving through the back door with all the money in the cash register, and my parents never noticed until it was too late and they couldnt stop me because they were letting another customer buy something. After that, I realized I could steal a lot of money from my parents gas station. So I started walking through the front door of the store with my arms wide open, straight to the window where the cash register was located at, wide open the cash register and held it open with one arm and started pulling the cash out to throw it on the ground and would run to the back door, and my parents couldnt do anything about it. They would open the back door and let me in, and they never got mad, they laughed and scolded me and let me keep the cash because after all, it was just play money. I dont know how long I did this and I dont know how much I stole. But I remember having enough to buy anything a kid could want. Toys, candy, video games, bikes, you name it. My father used to always joke to my mom and say, "Why didnt you notice the window was open all this time?" and my mom would say "I was too busy helping customers, I dont know how you can be so careless with the money!" and my dad would say "I was busy too! Why didnt you notice?" and they'd go back and forth and my mom didnt like him joking about it at all. But he would always laugh it off. This went on forever, until I reached the age of 5-7ish, where my dad made it a habit to lock the cash register at all times when kids were present. From that point on, it wasnt fun anymore so I never did it again. Even though I was literally stealing thousands of dollars from my parents gas station monthly, I was never in any trouble for it. My parents always talked about it and laughed and to this day, it is a story they still tell. They couldnt believe I was so fast and sneaky, and they always used to joke that it was probably the only gas station in the country where you can steal money from the register without getting in trouble, lol. But when I reached my adult years and I was in my 20's, I realized how big of a problem it actually was. Just from stealing all of that money, probably tens of thousands of dollars, I made my childhood amazing and it probably contributed to my parents being able to retire early. Who knows. But looking back on it, I dont know how my parents could just dismiss it like it was nothing and say "Oh its just play money, he can keep it." Even though it probably didnt financially hurt them at all, it was still a problem of them not being able to keep their store secure.

Edit: Thank you all so much.
