CMV: JCVD is way better than the other big action stars of the 80s/90s.

Van Damme is probably in my top ten favorite actors ever, because he brings a consistent level of quality to his films that is completely unmatched by his contemporaries. The man just has a real knack for making the most of every project he's in, especially in the late 80s/early 90s. <br><br>The proof is in the pudding: Bloodsport, Kickboxer, and Universal Soldier are among the best JCVD films, but each of these films would rank in the top three of the filmographies of other big action stars of this era. If you lined up the top five films of each of these actors, it's not even close: Van Damme would have the best top five hands down. <br><br>Schwarzenegger's five best films - Commando, T2, Predator, Total Recall, and Kindergarten Cop - are all classics, but it's clear that Schwarzenegger is extremely reliant on the people around him for his success. If he had been given Van Damme's scripts instead of the scripts he had, there is no way he would have had the same level of success as he did. JCVD would have been a much better Schwarzenegger than Schwarzenegger actually was, whereas Schwarzenegger would have been a much worse JCVD than JCVD actually was. <br><br>Norris is a very distant third. He just doesn't have any good movies. Missing in Action and Lone Wolf McQuade are the two that get the most praise, but they just aren't that good, and the rest of his films are crap. <br><br>Seagal isn't an 80s guy, but he burst onto the scene in the late 80s and quickly became the main rival to JCVD, but he also just doesn't have any good movies. Under Siege is the only one anyone ever mentions, and it's utter shite. He's the worst of these four actors by a long shot.<br><br>So what do you think? Do you think any of these other actors can touch JCVD? Or do you think he is lowkey the best actor ever?
