I’ve been depressed for almost 9 years now. One day I discovered that when my mom took my phone, tv, or computer privileges away, I was able to function normally even though I was still severely depressed. The main reason this works is that you’re forced to get up and go outside, do your routine, and you’re more likely to interact with your friends and family. I usually keep my routine in order to feel more normal and you will stop feeling so bad because you’re not in bed all day. However, this only works If you’re not clinically depressed. So far, routine has helped me.
