My boyfriend, 30, and I, 29, have been together for about 2 years. We have been living together in a condo for the past year and our landlord just told us he wanted to sell. So, we need to move out in a couple of months.

We looked at a couple houses that were for sale in the neighborhood and decided against it. They were all very old and the prices were too high. We decided it was better for us to rent a house for now.

But the other day my bf found a house he really liked and he told me he was going to make an offer that was a little bit higher than what he wanted. And he did, without talking to me first. He wanted to "surprise" me if he got the house.

I did not like the house at all and I was very upset that he made an offer without talking to me. I told him to back out, but the buyers had already accepted the offer. He then told the buyers that he backed out because the inspection showed problems with the house.

I was very angry with him and I told him so. I feel unsure about our relationship now. I do not want to live in a house he chose and I feel like he was trying to commit to something so big without talking to me. He knows that I have always had a lot of anxiety about things and that I do not like surprises very much. He also knows that I have always wanted to rent a house over buying one so soon.

I am not sure whether I should break up with him or not. Has anyone gone through anything like this?
