Is it strange that we believe our own society is the greatest it has ever been?

We have airplanes, the internet, cars, and big homes. However, the world seems to be more self-centred, divided, lonely, and scary.
I feel like a lot of our problems today have been solved years ago, but yet we still face the same problems we have been facing for years. A lot of people don’t have food for example, or there is alcoholism everywhere.
I get the idea that our lives today are way better than it was thousands of years ago, but it feels like people are angrier, more divided, and more lonely than we have ever been before.
