The research, conducted by the University of Texas at Austin, was presented in a paper titled "Privacy-Protected Brain-Computer Interface Using Artificial Neurons" at the International Solid-State Circuits Virtual Conference.

The privacy-protected BCI combines a novel artificial intelligence algorithm that allows data to be processed on the device, with a traditional BCI chip. Processing information on the chip limits the data that is shared and makes it more difficult for hackers to access.
