I had to involuntarily restrain a kid

I'm a TA in a kindergarten class. Yesterday one of the students, let's call him Kyle, got severely upset. He had a gash on his eyebrow and we told him he was going to the nurse. He was confused, fell to the floor and started kicking and screaming. His arms were flailing wildly with the tips of his fingers open wide to grab. When he started punching himself in the head, I restrained him. I grabbed both of his arms. He started screaming, "I'M THE BOSS!"

I'm severely conflicted. He's 6 years old and I'm a 28 year old man. I'm supposed to be his caretaker, not his restraint. I feel awful. Please tell me you've done this before too and I'm not a monster.
