Hello there, fellow redditors. I am from r/relationships and I saw this sub for the first time and though I had to make an account here because well, I'm really interested in this kind of sub and I've been lurking here for a while.

By the time I decided to create an account, the new rules had just been announced and there was an influx of negative comments at the time about them, on the threads for new rules and on the sub in general.

For me, I've been really enjoying the threads I've seen lately.

And I've noticed a lot of comments lately like "I'm glad this post was back when I joined and we were allowed to have real discussions."

And I thought about it for a while and I think that's really sad.

If you're just posting to post, then that's fine, people can use the info for whatever.

But if the point was to help others, then you didn't help them. You wrote up the entire post just to end it with "this is against the rules, check the new rule page for more info."

What's the point of posting at all if you can't help the people asking?

And I thought about that for a while and realized that I really like the new rules.

I've been seeing a lot of threads from people who clearly have no clue what they're doing, and the top comment is always something along the lines of "don't do the drug, it's against the rules to tell you anything else."

And I thought about all these innocent people who come here, thinking they'll get good advice on their new drug, and they see that essentially all the drug does is screw them up even more.

And I realized I really like the new rules.

If you're gonna do drugs, educate yourself. Don't come to some random internet strangers for help. Do your research, start low and slow, and always have someone with you that knows what to do if something goes wrong.

I've always been like this, I do my research on pretty much everything.

And I was just thinking about this sub and really there is nothing wrong with saying "don't do the drug."

I wish more people would do that.
