Why did Savarkar – a staunch opponent of women’s education pass his wife through B.A ?

People who don’t know the real story of Savarkar, call him an oppressive and patriarchal figure. They are guided by a misunderstanding – as if Savarkar did not want women to go to school or did not want to educate them. Savarkar had no intention – for women to be uneducated and uncultured. Actually, a lot of people don’t know that Savarkar was the first person to take the initiative of providing education to women in the jail under British rule. <br><br>Before independence, during the period when Savarkar was in Andaman Nicobar Jail, he started providing education to the women inside the jail as well. This is the proof that Savarkar was not against the education of women. Rather, he guided the women inside the jail.<br><br>He motivated her to pursue higher studies and encouraged her to do well and complete her degree. In a way, Savarkar was the one who motivated Bai to pursue a degree in law. As proof, a certificate of the course Yama Bai (Bai) pursued is attached below.
