"it" is a bad movie.

I watched the extended cut (170 minutes) recently and was amazed at how - and why - this is so popular.

There is no character development. The dialogue is laughable ("I'm not afraid of you other than in the literal sense") and the actors are terrible. It looks like they're all staring at the script on the ground. The pacing is so slow and drawn out (170 minutes was almost too much to handle) and every scene has at least 2 minutes of unnecessary extra footage that does nothing for the development of the movie.

The movie relies way too heavily on jump scares. There's no subtlety. The scenes are so drawn out (there's that word again) just in preparation for the jump scare that it's ridiculous. "Wow, the camera just zoomed up on this half rotting head for no reason whatsoever. I wonder what's going to happen next?"

Lastly, the score is so over the top and inappropriate. ItINSISTS on telling you when you should be scared, and how scared you should be. It's just so obnoxious. This is a huge problem with modern horror movies. "Hey, this scene is scary, so the score is going to be really loud and scary too." It's not necessary.

Overall, "it" is a very disappointing movie. (I haven't read the book or watched the tv movie in years, but it was way, way better than this piece of garbage.)
