LPT: If you broke it by accident, own up to it. If you broke it on purpose, own up to it. Don’t lie and say it was an animal.

I’ve been a nanny for quite a few years and have worked with many families. There have been several where the parents have gone out of their way to teach the kids not to lie by making them do chores or whatever as punishment for lying. Except when the dog breaks something, it’s always “I’m so disappointed that the dog broke my ______. He’s a very bad dog.”<br><br>This is the only instance where lying is okay in my book. And the kids pick up on it. So, if you mess something up, just own up to it. You won’t impress anyone by blaming it on the animal.
