In a world where almost everyone became superhuman after a meteor crash, you didn't. How are you holding up?

The meteor crashed in December 2023.
By January 1st 2024, over 70% of the world's population had developed powers. It didn't take long to figure out that if someone didn't already possess the power of healing, they wouldn't generate one for themselves. Medical care became obsolete the moment the "invulnerable" people entered hospitals and started curing sick patients with a single touch.

In February 2024, the UN declared that major conflicts and weapons of mass destruction no longer posed the threat they once did. Of those 70% of the population who had superhuman abilities, 70% of them had invulnerability or regeneration. It didn't take long for anyone to realize that many countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, and the like, had a very small number of people with powers. It got the entire world asking the question; are superpowers distributed randomly, or is there a pattern behind them?

In March 2024, the answer to that got closer to being answered. Many countries and independent organizations were cataloging every person they could find with abilities. They recorded their race (or races), gender, religion (if any), occupation, sexual orientation, and life accomplishments. The first thing that stood out was the racial distribution, which very closely followed the UN's data for the world's races. The next was that women were more likely than men to get powers. Then it was discovered that people with disabilities were twice as likely to get powers as those without, but only those with physical disabilities. People with mental disabilities were half as likely to get powers as those without. The next major discovery was that 85% of people with powers followed the LGBTQ+ rainbow flag.

Is there a pattern behind who gets powers? If so, what does is mean, and what does it say about the world? Does it mean anything at all?

This is the world you live in, but you don't have powers. How are you holding up?

You don't need to indicate what race you are, what religion you follow, or anything like that. Just tell the story from the point of view of a regular person in a world of superhumans.
