I was almost kidnapped by a killer and I didn’t even know it.

This happened to me when I was 10 and my brother was 7. We live on a farm so we are used to seeing random people in our yard or out on our land but they are usually just hunters or people looking to buy something. One summer evening I was sitting on our front porch with my little brother when a car full of people pulled up. My mom was in the house cooking supper and my dad was out in the barn. My grandpa was in his room right next to the front door. <br><br>A man got out of the car and walked up to the house but stopped at the passenger side door. I thought he had just pulled over to check his tire or something. We were busy watching the ants in the yard so I didn’t pay much attention to him after that. Then he walked over to our porch and he was acting very strange. He was pacing back and forth and kept looking around the yard. My grandpa opened the door and stuck his head out to see what we were doing and he asked the man if he needed anything and he said that he was looking for a house down the road. The houses out here are spread out and the road is pretty long so my grandpa offered to ride with him to point it out. I thought this was weird but was also glad because this strange man was in front of our house. As my grandpa was walking to the car the man stuck his head out of the window and said something to him but I couldn’t hear it. My grandpa just looked at him and said “Oh” and walked back to the porch. <br><br>The man got back out of the car and started walking back to the house. Once he was almost to the house my grandpa beat down on the front door and yelled for my mom while while trying to get the key in the door. So I looked at my brother and said “What is going on?” and he said “I don’t know but that man is freaking out.” The man was at the passenger side door just staring at us pacing back and forth. My grandpa got the door open and rushed us in the house. I looked out the window and the man was in the front yard looking around and going behind the car. Then 2 men and a woman jumped out of the car and they were looking around the yard and going behind the cars and etc. The man that was pacing in the front yard came running up to the front door and started banging on it like he was going to break it down. My mom called 911 and the cops came pretty quickly and arrested them. <br><br>They were the people that had kidnapped and killed a little girl in our town a few days earlier. The police said that they were looking for a house that was secluded and had easy access to a child so that they could use them as bait to get away. They also said that they think that they had already picked out my brother because he fit the criteria that they were looking for (blonde hair and blue eyes) and they would have grabbed him when my grandpa walked out to the car. I’m thankful that my grandpa decided not to ride with them and instead stuck with the original plan. I’m also grateful that he was sharp enough to hear what the man had said which was “Are those the 2 kids that you want or should we keep looking?” <br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>They all received life sentences.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>Edit: I know that my post did not follow the guidelines for this sub so I apologize for that.
