I (14M) have a 8 year old cat. My mom found her as a stray. She is very sweet, affectionate, and gentle. I love her a lot. I’ve spent a lot of money on her to make her comfortable and happy.

My sister (16F) hates her. She’s always complaining about how she is “sick” (she’s not, she’s just fine), how she’s “ugly” (she’s not, she’s beautiful), how she’s a “dirty animal” (she keeps herself spotless), how she takes up too much space in our house, etc. She’s always talking about how cats are inferior animals who don’t deserve to be loved and cared for by humans. She even had the nerve to call me a “pathetic simp” for putting my own money on a cat scan (get it? cat scan?) because she was complaining about how I spent too much money on the scan.

I love my cat and I would never think of getting rid of her just because my sister said so. I have even set up a special area for her where she can stay away from my sister. My mom is totally on my side, and my sister and I have come to a few arrangements. She agreed to stay out of the special area, stop calling my cat names, and try to act civil. If she fails to do any of those, I’ll consider getting rid of my cat.

However, today I was in my room when my sister came to me and started complaining. I calmly explained to her that my cat isn’t doing anything wrong, and I’ll never get rid of her because I love her. She started yelling at me, then ran out of the room. I’m considering calling child protective services because I don’t think it’s right that my sister can mistreat my cat and I have no consequences. I know it’s not my cat’s fault. AITA?
