Betting on ANYTHING should be socially discouraged, but for some reason people find this acceptable. This should be outlawed because every bet starts with an innocent handshake. Do you really think your best friend is going to back out on something they promised after a handshake? This escalates into sour betting, where both parties are unsatisfied with the outcome. This is called “the bet trap.” Once people realize this isn’t working, they back out. This is where most people just call their friend a jerk and bail on the bet. But some people actually call the cops. Do you really want the police at your doorstep, asking you why you promised to jump off a bridge into the water? Or to mow your neighbor’s lawn for the rest of your life? Of course not. This is why you should never take a bet of ANY kind. I stumbled upon a bet - trap myself a ways back. My friend of 7 years had me in a chokehold, but I won. I shook hands with him, and as soon as I woke up, I was in a chokehold. I had fallen into the bet trap. I lived to tell the tale. This is why you should never take a bet. I was very lucky to make it out alive. I really hope my voice is heard, because this madness is too common and gets too little attention. Bets are a nightmare! I hate myself for falling into the bet trap!
