Holding a major publication's feet to the fire, let's see how we do.

1. **The Guardian**

>Julian Assange stripped of Australian passport as government targets his helpers | The Australian

Lots of discussion about the passport, but no mention of the charges they are trying to extradite him for.

>WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange denied bail after extradition decision delayed | The Guardian

A nice summary of the hearing and its outcome.

>How Julian Assange went from peace prize nominee to rape allegation fugitive | The Guardian

Coverage of the allegations, how he skipped bail, and then hid in the embassy.

>Judge dismisses Julian Assange arrest warrant: 'I have no option but to dismiss it' – video | The Guardian

And then a year later, an arrest warrant was dismissed, even though he was in breach of it.

>Julian Assange's lawyers plan to argue Trump's election makes extradition less likely | The Guardian

And then the election of Trump and his promise of a pardon.

>Julian Assange publicly appeals for pardon for Chelsea Manning after Fbi investigation closure | The Guardian

So, Assange appeals to Obama for a pardon. The prosecution are looking to extradite him to face trial in the USA.

So, let's review. The Guardian have written a number of articles about Assange, but they have ignored his arrest warrant for skipping bail, and only described the allegations as "an allegation that he assaulted two women". This is grossly misleading - what actually happened was two women went to the police with allegations of rape/serious assault, and then a warrant was issued because Assange skipped bail. And then he skipped bail again to avoid being extradited.

2. **NYT**

>Julian Assange, WikiLeaks Founder, Faces 18 Federal Charges | The New York Times

>Julian Assange, Assange Arrest, Assange Extradition, Assange Charges: Julian Assange, WikiLeaks Founder, Faces 18 Federal Charges - The New York Times

>Assange Extradition: Ecuador Denies WikiLeaks Founder's Asylum Claim Assange Extradition: Ecuador Denies WikiLeaks Founder's Asylum Claim - The New York Times

>WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Arrested After Ecuador Withdraws Asylum - The New York Times

>18 Counts Charges Assange: WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Arrested in London Assange Assange Extradition: WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Arrested After Ecuador Withdraws Asylum - The New York Times

>WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Charged With Espionage by U.S. - The New York Times

>Who Is Julian Assange? WikiLeaks Founder Is Arrested After 7 Years in Ecuador Embassy - The New York Times

>What Charges Does Julian Assange Face? - The New York Times

So the NYT have written a couple of articles mentioning the charges, with one about who Assange is. But nothing about the rape/assault allegations. Why the conflicting reporting of the same story by two major publications?
