I stole £50-60 a day from my old job

When I was 16/17 I worked at a McDonald’s and I was a cashier. My friend was on the front counter as well and we’d both be robbing £30-40 each between 2-3 times a day. We had to wear clear backpacks to work so the managers could see there’s no food in there. So what we’d do is either take a small amount out of the till and put it in our pockets and then take out the food or do what we did most of the time which is put the food down the side of the till (in the middle of the counter where it’s small between the tills, as the money is put in there and then to the drawers so it kinda looked liked it belonged there) and put the food down our trousers. And then pick up the food again and bag it like normal. We got caught taking food and money but they didn’t have any proof, just the fact we were taking the exact amount we were supposed to make a day and that we were storing it in the middle of the counter. We got fired and banned for life. I had no consequences, my friend got tackled to the ground by the manager as he was walking out the door and threatened to call the police.

Edit: thanks for the responses! I never liked that job and everything that comes with it, and the reasons I’ve been told is because the business makes a lot of money and don’t pay their employees enough. I never felt like I was stealing, I always felt like I was taking what was rightfully mine but idk.
