My friends all knew that it was haunted, apparently, they just never told me.

I'm not sure why they didn't tell me, but I think it was to get me as far away from the man who watched my house as they could.

I had a bad relationship with a guy named Chad who I went on a few dates with, a few months before Christmas. He even came over once and I let him show me something he had made for me.

I'm surprised that this is the first time I've ever mentioned him to you.

But within a few months, he kind of entered a stalking phase.

I went on a date with a guy who's called Shane. I walked home at about 11, but he was in front of my house when I got home. He was making a wooden model of a house in a shoebox. He said that it was a model of the house that he grew up in, and he had made this one for me. He said that I deserved to have a house where I could feel safe. Then I talked to him for a little while, and he asked if he could come in for a cup of coffee. I had a bad feeling about letting him into my house, so I said no. He left, and then I went inside.

But he didn't leave. I could see him in the garden, and there were footprints in the frost when I woke up.

The next morning, I went out and talked to him. He was really sweet and I think it was the first time that he had been rejected by a girl and was trying to get me back. He said he wanted me to be safe and that the model was to show me what he had made for himself after something bad happened at home. I said that I couldn't go back out, but he said he understood. He was wearing a brown sweater, white t-shirt, and jeans, and he looked very cute. When he smiled back at me I was really happy that I hadn't been mean to him.

Then I went back inside and got on with my day. Then he stopped coming, at least for a while. I didn't hear from him again for a few months and I had forgotten all about him. I didn't even know that he still lived in the town. I didn't hear from him again until he saw me with my colleagues from work at Christmas.

A few weeks after Christmas he started coming back to the house. Sometimes he would come with new models, but sometimes he just sat in the garden.

I talked to him a couple of times. He was still nice, and I felt a little bad when I talked to him. He once said that he loved me, but I was a little surprised. It had been a year since we had met and I had only gone on three dates with him. I said that I liked him very much and that we would see each other again, but that I didn't want a relationship.

That was about a month before the party. I was usually alone, so I would sometimes talk to him when I saw him. Sometimes I would bring him a cup of tea or coffee and he would say that I looked beautiful. He never said anything bad to me, but it did make me uncomfortable. Every time I looked out the window he was there. Every time I opened a curtain he was there. He was always there, watching me.

I went to a party on Valentine's Day weekend and my friends asked if I wanted to go. Shane was there and I was glad to get out of the house.

"So we're all going to this party," said my friend Mel. "And we want you to come."

I asked where it was, and she said it was at a house on the other side of town.

"Who's party is it?" I asked.

Mel said that her cousin was having it, but she didn't know much about the house because she hadn't been there in a long time.

"I don't know if I'll be going," I said, but they said it would be a good chance to get away from my ex for a few hours.

"It's not my ex," I said. "But yeah, that sounds good."

They said that they would pick me up at 8pm and that we would go from there.

We got to the house at about 8:40, and when we walked in we saw that Mel's cousin was already there. She waved at us and said that there were snacks in the living room and that there were drinks on the patio.

I didn't feel very hungry, so I went to get a drink.

"So how are you doing?" Mel asked as we walked through the house.

"I'm not great," I said, "but I don't want to talk about it."

Mel nodded and said that was okay.

We got to the patio and I didn't see any drinks. We went back inside and asked Mel's cousin where the drinks were. She said that they were out by the pool.

"Oh," she said. "I think I forgot to mention this to you, but I moved here last week."

When she said that, I felt very strange. I had the worst sinking feeling. I felt sick. I felt like I was going to be sick. I didn't understand why, but I felt sick.

"You said you hadn't been here in a long time," said Mel.

"No," she said. "I haven't been here in a long time, but I moved here last week."

It made no sense, but I didn't want to know any more.

"Why did you move here last week?" I asked. "You just moved in. So why are you having a party?"

"I moved here last week, but I've lived here for my whole life," she said. "I lived here for my whole life and then I moved away. Last week I moved back here."

"But you said you hadn't been here in a long time," said Mel.

"Yes, I haven't been here for a long time," said her cousin. "My father died and I inherited the house. I moved in last week, but I haven't been here for a long time. It's my new home now."

I felt even worse. I told Mel that I needed a drink.

Then I went to the drinks.

The drinks were not by the pool because there was no pool. There was a field of tall grass behind the house. I assumed the drinks were there. I started to walk across the lawn, but it was tall and I couldn't see what I was doing. About halfway, I slipped and fell. Then I saw that I had tripped on something. I got on my knees and tried to see what it was. It was a concrete mushroom buried in the grass, only visible from one side. It was about a foot tall, and about a foot wide. I picked it up and held it. It was very heavy. I didn't know what to do with it, so I left it there and went back to the house.

Mel was waiting for me at the door.

"What were you doing?" she said. "You fell down and left and came back."

"I picked up a concrete mushroom," I said. "I left it there and came back."

Then I went back to the house to get a drink.

I went back out to the drinks and slipped on the same thing and fell. I got on my knees and tried to see what it was again. It was a concrete mushroom buried in the grass, only visible from one side. It was about a foot tall, and about a foot wide. I picked it up again and held it. It was very heavy. I didn't know what to do with it, so I left it there and went back to the house.

Mel was waiting for me at the door.

"What were you doing?" she said. "You fell down and left and came back."

"I picked up a concrete mushroom," I said. "I left it there and came back."

"I don't remember you doing that the first time," she said. "Was it the same one?"

"I didn't do it the first time," I said.

She said that she would walk out with me. She walked with me across the lawn to the drinks. We didn't slip down. We didn't see any mushrooms.

When we got to the drinks, there was just an empty table.

"I thought you said there would be drinks out here," I said.

"I thought so too," said Mel.

We went back inside and asked Mel's cousin about the drinks. She said that they were in the living room.

"I said that the first time, didn't I?" she said.

Then I started to feel sick and I asked if I could use the bathroom.

"Do you remember where it is?" she said.

"No," I said.

"It's where it's always been," she said. "You remember that, don't you?"

I said I didn't remember and she said to check the hallway.

I walked down the hallway to the bathroom, but it wasn't there. So I went back and asked her again where the bathroom was.

"The bathroom is where it's always been," she said. "You don't remember? You used to live there."

"No," I said. "I don't live here. I've never been here before."

"What?" she said.

Then I felt sick and I ran to the bathroom. I opened the door and I don't know what I saw. I didn't know what it was. It was a bathroom, but it was like nothing I had ever seen. I don't know how to describe it. It was like something out of
