My dad went to the best university in my country to study engineering so all of my siblings feel like they have to live up to that standard even though we're all adults with our own children and careers.

I'm the only person in my family who went to art school. I have a degree in graphic design.

I never got good grades but I managed to finish all my education and get a good job at a pretty large company.

I would visit my parents once or twice a year for a week. We never lived close to them because my husband has to stay close to his job.

My parents kept asking me about my grades and I knew they wouldn't be happy with my answers so I lied and told them I got all of my exams 90-95%.

They were happy with that but would still talk about how disappointing it is that I got less than 95% in some of my exams.

They managed to find out my real grades last year when I was planning on going back to university to get a degree in psychology and the university wanted my transcripts from my previous degree.

My parents were so angry. They were shouting through the phone at me and my siblings and even my husband calling me ungreatful and lazy.

They didn't talk to me for months and said all kinds of hurtful stuff.

I'm done with them. I don't need them in my life.
