My friend (20f) thinks her boyfriend (22m) is cheating on her, how to tell her that sorta not really her business.

She’s a meta standout girl who is currently dating a “reactor” (that’s what they call them) who works at meta. I’m also a reactor but don’t work at the same building.

As context these reactors are basically interns, except you get paid a full time engineering salary for a full time engineering job. It’s not a real job, but you don’t have to do any “intern” grunt work like making copies and the like.

The catch is that if you get a breakup email (that’s what they call it), you have 90 days to move out/ find a new job. So it’s a little stressful, and people are always wondering if you’ll get a breakup email.

For her boyfriend, it’s a little bit harder since he has no engineering degree or experience. So we were talking about that, and how you’re supposed to talk to your manager once a month to see how you’re doing, when she said that the last time her boss said he was doing okay.

I then said that her boss was nice and said that to everyone, and that I had heard him say that to some people that got a breakup email.

I also have another coworker at my building who got fired but was able to stay in the dorms. He’s also a reactor, and was able to transfer to another location. So I also mentioned this example.

Then she said that her bf was sort of not doing “engineering work” and was mostly doing stuff like maintenance and cleaning and the like. I joked that he was getting fired. Then she started crying and said that he was going to dump her and leave her and she doesn’t know what to do.

I hugged her and said it’s okay, she should talk to him. Then she said that he had been talking to other girls and how she felt like he didn’t really care about her.

I hugged her and said that he definitely cares about her and that he’s a great guy.

But I sort of want to tell her that she’s sort of deluding herself. I don’t think he really loves her, but I don’t know how to say that. It won’t be nice to say that he’s just going to dump her, but if I keep playing the “he’s nice” card, she won’t know that she needs to prepare for the worst.

TL;DR: if someone you like cheated, tell them they’re really nice?
