I stole thousands of dollars in change over 2 years working at McDonalds

When I was 16 I got a job at McDonald’s. I hated making food and working front counter. I always asked to work drive thru window taking money at the first window. <br>This was before credit cards so everyone paid in cash. All I would do is keep a quarter or dime of almost every car I got. Sometimes I would keep a dollar. <br>It was about a quarter each car. I would do this all day. <br>I did this for 2 yrs. I never got caught. <br>I made about 8 an hour. But would take about 30-40 a day. Over 2 yrs is about 30,000 dollars. <br>I’m not happy I did this. But if I ever need a job I don’t want to be stopped from getting one because of this so I won’t say the location.<br><br>Edit 1 - I also took food. I would eat my lunch for free. I would take a 20 dollar bag of food home with me almost every night. I would take burgers out to the people that were picking up the trash and recycling. I would give food to people I liked. <br>I would move food from the grill onto my friends sandwiches. <br>Sandwiches, fries, chicken nuggets. I took full meals for everyone at home. <br><br>Edit 2. - I was a stupid kid. Not excusing myself. But I didn’t think of the consequences. I had about 8 other counter people with me at all times. We all did this. And the managers knew. They would tell us to stop. But we didn’t. We took a lot. I would take about 4 bucks a car. Sometimes 10. Sometimes nothing. <br><br><br>Edit 3- I also stole food from the fridge and freezer. I would fill my car full of food when I left and take it home each night. I would eat it all the next day. <br><br>Edit 4- I worked 5 days a week. I took on average 40 bucks a day. But some days 0. I didn’t steal all the time. Only when I could. (Every car) <br><br><br>Edit 5- Yes I know people who work there are allowed a free meal a day. I had that too. But I was taking an extra 20 bucks worth of food every day also. <br><br>Edit 6- I worked there for 2 yrs. I didn’t take 40 bucks a day for 2 yrs. But about 30-40 a day 3-4 times a week. 40 was my average. <br><br><br>Edit 7 - I didn’t steal from every car. But probably 70%. There was a boy working there with me who stole from every car. We would compete to see who could take the most. <br><br><br>Edit 8- I used the 30k I stole to buy my wife and I a house. <br><br><br>Edit 9- I know a quarter and dime isn’t gonna add up to much. .25 + .10 is .35 So I took on average .35 from 70% of the cars. <br><br>Edit 10 - I stole for 2 yrs. 8 hrs a day 5 days a week. Probably 260 days a yr. That’s about 4,160 hrs. If I averaged about 30 bucks a day that’s about 30,000.
