If I were to follow the advice of this sub, I would need to delete half my Facebook friends...

I follow this sub because I'm a Republican who hates Trump. Most of my friends and family are also Republicans and many are Trump supporters. I live in a small town with a relatively small population. We are mostly blue collar and working class folks. I've noticed a common theme in many (not all) posts on this sub regarding fellow Americans who are Trump supporters. A lot of the posts contain advice or challenges to delete Facebook friends who are Trump supporters. I can't do that because I need these people to live my life. Most of them are good people. I've even spoken with some of them and they are not as vile as many posts suggest they are. I think many people here forget that Trump won the presidency because of a small group of white people in the Midwest and a small number of undecided voters in the swing states. I think this sub forgets that most Trump supporters are white, Christian, blue collar (or working class) folks. I also think many folks forget that most Trump supporters don't have an Ivy League education, nor do they have a PhD or work in a white collar job. I think this sub forgets that most Trump supporters don't have time to read books, or keep up with politics, or watch MSNBC or CNN. I think many people here forget that the average person only has a basic understanding of politics and doesn't keep up with what goes on in D.C. I think many here forget that many Trump supporters are afraid of change, afraid of what they don't know, and afraid of what D.C. politicians are going to do next. Call them stupid if you want, but many D.C. politicians have shut the door on them. They don't believe a word politicians say. They don't believe the media either. They are afraid and angry and feel powerless. They feel D.C. politicians don't listen to them or represent them but represent Wall Street and the fat cats instead. They feel powerless because their vote doesn't seem to matter. They are afraid because they are unsure of the future of this country. I know that I'm in the minority here, but I don't think we should exclude these people or alienate them. All this sub keeps saying is that D.C. politicians should listen to us, but why aren't we listening to fellow Americans. I'm not saying I agree with a lot of them, but I'm also not going to exclude or delete them from my life. I believe they need to be reminded that we are all human and deserving of dignity and respect. I think our job is to tell them truth without being judgmental or condescending. I don't think we should insult them or call them names or treat them as idiots. We are all human. All of us have different perspectives and different life experiences. I believe most of them want the same things we do: a strong democracy, a strong economy, and a strong country. I believe a lot of them are misinformed or lack information about how Washington really works. Many of them lack critical thinking skills and are not skilled in discernment. We are human. It's our job to speak the truth in love and kindness. We are human. It's our job to remind them that we are all Americans regardless of our politics. I'm a Republican who hates Trump, but I'm not going to exclude or delete fellow Americans who are Trump supporters.
