An interesting article in CNNTech:

The Israeli military is developing augmented reality, “smart” glasses designed to give soldiers an upper hand on the battlefield.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense, which is collaborating on the technology with Elbit Systems, confirmed the development on Tuesday. The ministry released a video demonstrating how the glasses are expected to function.

The system, dubbed “SpiiCE,” is designed to enhance a soldier’s understanding of his surroundings. The glasses are equipped with a display system that shows a soldier critical information such as maps, enemy fire, and even medical information about an injured colleague.

For instance, the display can show a soldier the location of a fellow soldier who is injured nearby. Additionally, the technology is designed to help a soldier find a wounded comrade by pointing out the direction he should head in to get to the injured soldier. The video released by the ministry showed a medic using the glasses to locate a wounded soldier.

For even more medical uses, the smart glasses come equipped with an option to scan a code on military first aid equipment to get instructions on how to treat a soldier’s wounds, including information on how to give CPR and how to stop bleeding.

We can’t wait to see these in action, and we’re sure the IDF will continue to come up with new, clever ways to use this technology.

The post Israel’s Ministry of Defense Is Developing Smart Glasses for Soldiers appeared first on The Yeshiva World.
