I called my boyfriend cute, along with a lot of other positive words, but this woman called him cute and I could tell she meant it in a totally different way. Like, kind of belittling. I don’t know how to describe it, I just could tell her tone was different.

I’ve been with my boyfriend for 11 years and we have a kid together. He’s 5’9, a little shorter than me. He looks very young, and I really like his face and smile. He has a lean, athletic build and is very strong. I show genuine appreciation for him and always compliment him, tell him how cute and attractive I think he is.

We were at a group event, hanging out with a bunch of people. We all decided to go to a restaurant to eat dinner. When we were leaving, my boyfriend offered to help carry some of the equipment. The group leader thanked him and said my boyfriend was cute for carrying the equipment. Now, it just so happens that one of the group members is a woman who has been interested in my boyfriend. She’s been making eyes at him, staring at him, and I could tell she was trying to get his attention.

There was a change in her tone when she said my boyfriend was cute. I could hear it. I know she meant it in a totally different way. She was making a play for him. I didn’t get upset. I’m fuming about it, and I’m so angry I don’t know what to do. I told my boyfriend about it and he thinks I should confront her about it.

I’m not going to do that. Instead, I’m going to send her a message on Facebook and let her know that I know she’s been making eyes at my boyfriend. I’m also going to tell her that my boyfriend and I are going to be together for the rest of our lives. I want to let her know that I know she’s been making a play for my boyfriend, but I want to let her know that I’m not afraid of her and that she has absolutely no chance. I want to let her know that her passive-aggressive tactics are not going to work.

When I get back to the house, I’m going to send her the message and let her know how I feel. I’m not going to let this go.
