After yesterday's event, I thought it would be pertinent to bring up the Bhadralok.

The Bhadralok, by definition, are the *gentlefolk* of Bengal. They are supposed to be the aristocratic and upper class men of Bengal and Bangladesh.

However, like most South Asians, they have a very very strong sense of insecurity. Hint: The word Bhadralok comes from *bhadrāloka*, which is a Sanskrit word for *gentlefolk* or *aristocracy*. For people who want to appear classy and aristocratic, they sure are very insecure. Hint hint, they have been trying to change their own language for the last 40 years or so.

Their very name simply screams insecurity.

Sorry to say, but the Bhadralok are not very much different from other South Asians, especially the Pakistanis and Bangladeshis.

However, there is an interesting twist. In all of South Asia, the Bhadralok are the only people to have successfully carried out political genocide. They were able to do this because of a series of events that transeled to the Partition of India and the eventual division of Bengal.

They were able to pull this off, because the Bhadralok *are not* the type of people we encounter in our daily lives, that is, some random South Asian man trying to act classy. Instead, the Bhadralok who matter are the ones who are in high positions of society. A good example would be the politicians.

This is what is important to remember. The Bhadralok that were able to pull this off, were the ones in positions of power, who worked together to carry out the genocide. A good example would be the police officers who were supposed to be the protectors of society, but instead simply stood by and watched as people were killed, raped, and displaced. If they had any sense of duty, they would obviously intervene, but they did not.

The Bhadralok who are politicians are the ones who made the decisions that allowed such events to occur.

I believe it is very important for us to remember this, because it is very relevant to what is happening today. It is not the common man, but the ones who have power who are working in favor of the enemy.
