What a terrible day in US cinema history. First, I see the news about Top Gun 3 being announced. Then, I search for Aquaman 3 only to find out Jason Momoa is replacing Superman with Aquaman 3 as his next film.

FD: I’m not a hater or a shitposter. I don’t have a lot of hate for these films, I’m just disappointed. Not everybody has to agree with me.

I’m not against superhero films. I do hate that it has become the formula in every film. I love the marvel movies up to endgame. Everything after endgame, except Shang Chi and Wandavision, has been pure trash. I’m not against DC, I’m not for Marvel. Nobody should dislike a film just because it Disney or because it’s more “indie” to be contrarian.

Top Gun Maverick was trash. Top Gun was an incredible film. It’s a timeless epic. I can watch it at least once a year and always be amazed by how good it was. Maverick on the other hand has more in common with a marvel film than Top Gun. It was a bad remake with a fetish for nostalgia and with lots of larvae brained references to Top Gun (like how they fetishized Maverick’s bike). The film was so embarrassing I didn’t finish it. And now, Top Gun 3? Why? I would be ok if they were remaking Maverick to be more like the original Top Gun, but instead, they are doubling down on trash. I hate that cinema is so dead today. Not a single major studio is trying to make something unique anymore. The only thing that matters is profit. Movies are just a product and nothing more. I can’t wait for this era to end. US cinema is in a depressing state today.
